About
Long-standing beloved Michelin-starred restaurant (earned star 2008). Opened 2001 by Chef William Ledeuil (learned from/worked for culinary legend Guy Savoy). One of most affordable Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris. Seven-course tasting menu €125, five-course €105, three-course lunch €49 (true bargain). Solid Gault & Millau reviews. Located along narrow street right off Seine. Gallery name fits—colorful contemporary artwork adorns walls. Brightly lit, modern feel with comforting warmth sense. Nice atmosphere. French restaurant but Chef Ledeuil incorporates Asian flavors (very interesting menu full of surprises). Wasabi ice cream on menu since restaurant opened.
The Visit
Ze Kitchen Galerie offers a memorable dining experience in Paris, blending French classics with surprising Asian flavors. The reviewer praised the creativity of the tasting menu, especially the desserts and standout savory dishes like the suckling pig and fish course. While some pasta courses fell short due to texture, the overall value, service, and hospitality were excellent. The unique use of ingredients and the welcoming atmosphere made for a strong finish and a meal worth returning for.
What They Ate
Quotes
"That ice cream was remarkable. It was unlike anything that I've ever had before."
"I started by trying the pig and it was delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked and it was very tender. It had a pleasant richness to it, but the sweet flavors on the plate added even more flavorful dimensions."
"(Malfadine Pasta) Flavor-wise, that was a very good dish. I really enjoyed it. The lobster was perfectly cooked, but I can't say the same for the pasta, which was unfortunately underdone. It proved very apparent with the wavy edges of the Malfadine, which had just too much chew. Once again, that was a good dish, but it could have been much better."
"That fish was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and nice and tender. While the fish may have been soft and delicate, the other components on the plate contributed sharp and bold flavors, which I loved. There was a great richness from the shellfish juice, but it was a nice contrast from the other elements of the dish, like the turmeric and orange."
"Overall, I really like the kitchen gallery. I think they offer really good value, and the food they make is very interesting... Plus, the restaurant has excellent service, a really nice atmosphere."
Our Reflection
The wasabi ice cream alone justifies Ze Kitchen Galerie's reputation. That remarkable creation hits perfect balance where 1% more would be too much, 1% less too weak. It's been on the menu since opening for good reason. The €125 seven-course tasting represents genuine Michelin value, especially compared to Paris alternatives. Order the fish of the day and suckling pig. The fish delivers perfect tenderness with sharp, bold flavors from turmeric and orange against rich shellfish juice. The pig matches it with perfectly cooked meat and sweet dimensions, though the breakfast-feeling pastry pairing puzzles. The shrimp ravioli broth explodes with flavor despite pasta texture issues. Those pasta problems drag the experience down. Two courses suffer from hard, tough, or underdone texture when the flavors excel. The blue lobster malfadine could have been much better. Add underwhelming bread for sauce soaking, unnecessary bottled water charges, and dining while recovering from illness. But Chef Ledeuil's Asian-inspired approach within French technique creates interesting surprises throughout. The final grape dessert wins with temperature variety. Service excellence enhances everything. At €152 before tip, this remains one of Paris's most accessible Michelin stars. The three-course lunch at €49 looks like a true bargain worth investigating.
