The Visit
Final Greece meal with Tina (who doesn't eat pork). Ordered pork souvlaki (traditional/original), two chicken, two sheep/lamb, Greek salad, eggplant salad, small pita bread, fries, sparkling water, regular water. UA previously ate here solo on landing, loved it enough to return. Authentic Greek food incomparable to back-home versions. Came to Greece ruined for feta and Greek salad forever—no comparison to pre-crumbled American/Canadian options.
What They Ate
Quotes
"Coming to Greece, Greek salads have been ruined for me, and feta, feta has been ruined for me back home in general, because there's just no comparison"
"I wish you could eat pork, because the pork one... is definitely the best one, I think... Just look at that char. Look at how, look at the amazing color they got on this guy"
"The flavor of the lamb or the sheep or whatever they're using is quite nice. And the char is amazing. So yeah, if only the texture were a little bit more tender."
"Fantastic. I mean, if you love grilled meats... I don't think anyone does grilled meat, grilled meats like skewers and gyros and whatnot than the Greeks."
Our Reflection
UA's pork souvlaki verdict captures everything: "Sorry, Tina, I wish you could eat pork, because the pork one is definitely the best one." That charred, juicy, fatty, indulgent traditional skewer justifies the twice-visited devotion. Greek salad ruined forever back home—big unbroken feta slab (the real-deal indicator) more mild and creamy than pre-crumbled American imposters, raw tomatoes surprisingly sweeter/juicier/fresher. Chicken souvlaki juicy with prominent charcoal flavor, sheep/lamb well-seasoned but jaw-workout tough (texture downside despite amazing char). British chip-style fries fluffy/hand-cut lacking American crispiness. Eggplant salad cold/acidic/vinegary surprise. Elderly-Greek-locals-smoking-cigarettes authenticity validated by Greek-default QR menu and quick service. €7.50 Greek salad, ~€6.50 souvlaki reasonable. Masters-of-grilling-meat claim earned despite sheep toughness. Residential Athens neighborhood gem worth final-meal pilgrimage.
