About
El Taco was founded by Glen Bell, who later went on to create the Taco Bell empire. Once a small chain, only one El Taco location remains today, serving as a living piece of fast food history and a precursor to one of America's most iconic brands.
The Visit
The reviewer visits the last remaining El Taco, a spot with deep roots in fast food history. Glen Bell's original venture before Taco Bell, this location stands as a testament to the evolution of American Mexican-inspired fast food. The reviewer is curious to see if El Taco's offerings surpass those of its more famous descendant, focusing on the authenticity and legacy of the menu.
What They Ate
Quotes
"(Bean Burrito) It's not bad, but it's not good... This just tastes like canned pureed beans. I know I'm eating, but I don't taste anything."
"(Taco) Kind of same as the burrito... There's no flavor. All I taste is cold cheese and lettuce"
Our Reflection
El Taco revealing why Glen Bell ditched it for Taco Bell empire. Bean burrito soup-dumpling-of-burritos but canned pureed beans (zero flavor). Taco flavorless (cold cheese/lettuce only, barely taste meat) despite surprisingly good crunch keeping you eating until no self-respect remains, sweating on couch. Cinnamon dessert hundred times better—Taco Bell should knock off cinnamon twist bull and return to this. Seeing heart of what Taco Bell could have been. Mid with exciting ending. Iron Stomach Noel loving Taco Bell rat meat for 40 years. Original location significance wasted on flavorless execution.
